With the government having announced ambitious plans to reduce and eventually eliminate the need to wait for state housing, Brunei Darussalam’s construction sector looks set for a busy few years. The industry is indeed already experiencing something of a growth spurt.

The recent strengthening of bilateral ties between Malaysia and Singapore bodes well for their construction sectors, as several planned projects between the two countries should bring lucrative business opportunities to both. A foreseen labour shortage in Malaysia, however, could stymie some projects’ development.

Saudi Arabia’s construction industry has been forecast to be one of the Kingdom’s best performing sectors in 2012, with an increasing flow of state contracts coming its way. However, bottlenecks in the materials supply chain and high demand for labour and resources could push up prices.
