Durante el mes de septiembre, el presidente Enrique Peña Nieto dio a conocer su propuesta de reforma fiscal. Dicho proyecto de ley aumentaría los impuestos sobre los ingresos altos, pondría fin a ciertas exenciones para las corporaciones, establecería las ganancias de capital así como los impuestos de dividendos y proporcionaría un alivio a Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex), compañía petrolera estatal que cuenta con una considerable carga fiscal.
