South Africa’s construction industry is beginning to revive activity, with demand in most segments still muted following a post-World Cup 2010 slowdown in project spending, but edging up slowly – although a proposal by a senior government minister for the establishment of a state-owned contractor may dampen private sector confidence.

Aidé de partenaires internationaux, le Gabon a entrepris d’accélérer les programmes visant à améliorer le réseau routier national afin de libérer le potentiel économique de provinces isolées et d’accroître le volume des échanges commerciaux à l’échelle régionale.
Even amidst the ongoing unrest in Cairo and a sliding benchmark index, Egypt’s medium-term economic outlook has begun to offer improved prospects, particularly in light of increased activity in key industries. Recent strong demand, particularly for housing, along with growing infrastructure needs, is set to see a medium-term recovery in Egypt’s construction sector. While a slowdown in 2011 hindered progress and has negatively impacted capital flows, work is continuing on existing projects and major deals continue to be signed.
South Africa’s construction sector appears to have been one of the big winners from the recently-released budget plan, following the ministry of finance’s announcement of a massive increase in spending on infrastructure and housing, although the industry will still need to overcome shortages of both human resources and materials as well as concerns over the government’s timely execution of capital projects.
