In Yangon the taxi is the preferred means of transport. Taking a regular taxi requires bargaining and negotiating the cost of the ride in advance. Ride-hailing apps were authorised to operate in the city beginning in 2017, so it is now possible to use services such as Grab. In a formal setting “U” should be used in front of a name when addressing a man and “Daw” when addressing a woman, roughly translating to Mr and Lady. When handing over something such as a business card, it is polite to touch your right elbow with your left hand.
