Le produit intérieur brut (PIB) du Gabon, qui poursuit une forte tendance à la hausse amorcée en 2010, devrait progresser de 5.7 % cette année, d’après le Comité monétaire et financier national. L’économie a enregistré une expansion de 6 % en 2011, favorisée par la hausse des prix mondiaux du pétrole et des dépenses publiques ambitieuses dans le cadre de la stratégie de développement national, Le Gabon émergent.
