UAE: Ras Al Khaimah Construction

A renewed focus on developing the tourism and industrial sectors has driven a construction boom in Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) and led to the development of a host of industrial, residential, commercial and retail spaces. To support this growth, the government has at the same time invested in basic electricity, water and sewer networks.

With the new year underway, things are already looking up for Ras Al Khaimah’s (RAK) construction sector. Although financial results from contractors and materials suppliers reflect the economic impact of instability in key markets during 2011, progress on recent projects, announcements of new infrastructure developments and trickle-down effects of a rising tourism industry all pointing toward expansion for the sector.

During the first three quarters of 2011, the Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) construction industry has pressed on with scheduled mixed-use development projects.

From Saudi Arabia to Qatar, governments across the Gulf region are ramping up spending on building projects, with this likely to generate a host of opportunities for Ras Al Khaimah’s construction materials industry, a mainstay of the local economy.
