Of the 77 airports in Mexico, 59 are international. Due to the country spanning nearly 2m sq km, flying is a very common mode of transportation. Low-cost airlines such as Interjet, Volaris and VivaAerobús operate key routes, as does flag carrier Aeroméxico. Spanish is the official language and is spoken throughout Mexico. There are around 62 dialects, the most widely spoken being Náhuatl, Maya and Mixteco. Though English is spoken in many places, it is advisable to learn some basic Spanish before arrival.
