Although Peru implemented some of the most comprehensive restrictions in the entire region, it has experienced a steady increase in the number of cases and deaths within its territory in recent months. In this report, we explore the economic situation before the pandemic, highlighting that the country was one of the strongest economies globally, with 22 years without a recession. Moreover, we also analyse how some structural factors, such as the high levels of informality in the economy, have resulted in a lack of containment of the virus. With the economic rebound forecast for all sectors, OBG analyses how the pandemic will disrupt traditional ways of working and operating by both companies and individuals going forward.
