The long-term vision of the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region of Morocco is anchored in its advantageous geographic position as a commercial and logistical hub for North and West Africa, and an entry point for regional and continental investment. Its main economic drivers – ranging from fishing and agriculture, to tourism and renewable energy – have experienced robust growth in recent years, as the authorities have pursued economic diversification, increased value added and supported infrastructure development. The pipeline of projects for the coming years includes Dakhla Atlantic Port, the West Africa Free Zone and the largest wind farm in North Africa. The decision by several countries to open consulates in Dakhla should create new opportunities for investment and trade.

This Focus Report includes interviews with Lamine Benomar, Governor of Dakhla-Oued Eddahab; Mounir Houari, General Director of the Regional Investment Centre Dakhla-Oued Eddahab; Said Mouline, CEO of the Moroccan Agency for Energy Efficiency; Michael Toporek, Managing General Partner of Brookstone Partners; and Abdelhamid Addou, CEO of Royal Air Maroc. It also includes case studies with partners such as Marsa Maroc, King Pelagique Group, Varun Beverages Morocco, the National Ports Agency and Derhem Holding.
