Against the backdrop of broader fiscal reform being carried out in the country, the results of the inaugural Oxford Business Group Business Barometer: Argentina CEO Survey highlight several facets of the local business environment that C-suite executives see as in need of improvement. For example, 96% of respondents consider the country’s current tax environment to be uncompetitive or very uncompetitive on a global scale, while 59% describe the ease of accessing credit as difficult or very difficult.

In early June the Central Reserve Bank of Peru (Banco Central de Reservas del Perú, BCRP) revised its 2019 growth projections for the local economy, forecasting GDP to expand by 4.2% next year, up from its March prediction of 4%. The institution maintained its projection of 4% for 2018.

Although Peru is still facing the repercussions of recent corruption scandals, and as many as 71% of
interviewed C-suite executives view the government’s efforts to combat the issue as unsuccessful or very unsuccessful, the country’s economic prospects are still promising. Some 84% of CEOs said that they had positive or very positive expectations of local business conditions in the coming 12 months. Additionally, 71% of respondents rated the ease of access to credit as easy or very easy, further depicting a supportive and fruitful business environment that is conducive to expansion and growth.
