Even as the sultanate's oil production rises, Oman is looking to grow other sectors of the economy, namely, transport infrastructure, the services segment and manufacturing, to offset a decline in oil income.
Morocco has had success in its recent efforts to build up export-oriented manufacturing projects, which should take over from more traditional industries in driving growth, as well as provide higher-quality employment over the longer term. If the kingdom can continue to attract major investment in high-growth-potential industries such as automobiles, aeronautics, agri-business and offshoring, while also developing well-integrated business ecosystems in these areas, it could achieve the sort of growth rates seen in other emerging markets
Despite facing a set of extraordinary external and internal challenges over the past several years, the Jordanian economy remained resilient in 2015, with real GDP growth reaching 2.4% that year. The government is working with the IMF to implement fiscal reform policies, supported by low global oil prices, to reduce the kingdom’s fuel import bill, which should have seen GDP growth and major macroeconomic indicators post a moderate improvement in 2016.
